There are many variations for this page depending of your interest or the quiet book theme. I usually just cut apples before sewing but for the template I’ve made two sizes for you to choose from.
You can make apples all in the same size or in different shapes or sizes, you can put leafs or not, numbers, change size of the basket and so on. There is really no rule how it should look like. I made many of these pages, all different in some way but all of them looks perfect.
Adding felt numbers is a nice way for toddler to learn numbers and counting by placing apples into basket. If I made some other pages with numbers in the book then I skip adding them on apples.
This entire page is made of felt. Beside felt you will also need velcro – five pieces cut into 1 by 1 cm squares. Each apple is made of two pieces of felt, back and front, so remember to sew velcro on back side before you seam it to the front side. Also you wanna put petal and leafs between them.

Apples look so real and yummy in the basket, don’t you think?
There is one little trick for the basket. After you sew it securely, gently pull felt with your fingers at the opening, towards you, left and right, and stretch it a bit. It will give your basket more real 3D look.
I didn’t place photos step by step as it is not hard to make it with basic sewing skills, but if you have any questions please leave a comment below and I’ll be happy to give you better explanation.
Recently I stumble upon this really cute traditional Waldorf story how the apple got its star. I’m so happy to share it with you as my little 11 month old is just to young for this story to truly understand. This Waldorf story is nice way to extend play with this Apple Tree quiet book page. Even better if it’s time of the year for picking apples.
I like this version from Sturdy at Home Mama as it is not too long. She also suggesting the story as initiation to Montessori apple cutting work, or introducing the yoga positions for sun salutations, star pose, or tree pose.
