In a microwave safe bowl mix water and corn starch. Put it in a microwave for 30 seconds (high temperature) and mix well with wooden spoon. It will get very thick as you mix. Leave it to cool down so you can touch it.
Meantime prepare cheese cloth and styrofoam balls which will be used as stands. Instead of styrofoam balls you may build any kind of stand using objects from house. You can put ball on top of vase, balloons, cups or anything you have handy.
Cut cheese cloth in squares. Size will depend of the size of your stand and how big ghosts you want.
Dip in cheese cloth and work for a few seconds so compound can get in to the cheese cloth. Don’t worry if it is uneven or if you have thick buildups. Try to take down some with your fingers and what is left will get thick and stay white so you won’t notice it once ghosts are dry.
Than stretch it and make cheese cloth flat and hang it on your stand.
Leave it to dry overnight.
Remove cheesecloth ghosts from their stand. Cut round circles out of black felt, you are gonna use them as eyes. Glue two eyes carefully on each ghost.
Tie thin thread on top of each ghost so you can hang them. You may use sewing needle.
You can hang your cheese cloth ghosts as a decoration or give them to kids to play.
My daughter loves to take one and she goes around the house scaring as with: “Booo!”. She just loves it! And I love to hear her laughing when she scares us. Also, ghost is one of her’s favourite costumes.
